Your Words Have Power: How Are Your Wielding Them?

I want to acknowledge something I've been seeing and hearing all over the place this past week since the election - from my friends, on social media, in the news...

I've been listening to droves of the Political Left energizing the spells of the Trump agenda by saying out loud, with passion and certainty, "*This* is going to happen." Insert here any number of stories and fears.

While I do think it is important for people to be clear and informed about real possibilities, and not live with our heads in the sand, disconnected from reality...

there is a big difference, energetically and magically, between:

1) acknowledging the place we are in collectively, tending to your emotions around it (really allowing yourself to feel any fear, grief, disappointment, helplessness, etc.), and then pointing the arrow of your attention and focus in the direction of what you want to create, born out of alignment with the life-force within you...

AND

2) attaching to a mental story about the worst of what might happen, allowing that story to fuel the strength of your worries and other emotions, and with the force of that energy, declaring with certainty and clarity how the future is going to unfold. "THIS WILL HAPPEN."

There is a POWER in that. A very strong power. You are energizing that agenda and that outcome when you say that.

This is the basics of magic, witchcraft, manifestation, priestess work, nervous system/brain-retraining, the placebo effect, etc.

They all arise from the fact that our beliefs, especially coupled with strong emotion and clarity, have power. This creates our reality. This has the capacity to change our body, or the symptoms we experience. And it has the capacity to energetically draw in the outcomes that we believe to be true.

"Abracadabra," the ancient Aramaic word means "I create as I speak."

We are CREATORS.

And when we say "THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN," we help energize that timeline to occur.

Yes, it's true that your fears might actualize.

I'm not in denial about this. And if they do, wouldn't you rather have them actualize without adding your precious energy to them? So they don't have quite as much strength or staying-power?

Wouldn't you rather have them actualize while you're empowering a different story and agenda with your energy and focus?

It's also true that your fears might not actualize.

Because what is true, is that we don't know how things will unfold. We can have some strong guesses, but life is always surprising us.

I was talking with my mom about this, and she said in Buddhism they call this the "know mind." One of her teachers, Joanne Friday, would urge them to stay out of "know mind." And invite the practice of asking themselves, "are you sure?" And most of the time, the answer to that is No.

When Joanne was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she found herself going into all the "knowing" stories of how this diagnosis would play itself out. The sudden and painful death coming for her, how long she had to live, etc.

But after she felt the grief of the diagnosis, she re-directed her thoughts to ones of "I actually have know no idea," and began to feed the possibility of living many years. She told her Doctor she didn't want to hear a prognosis (which would feed the "know mind"), especially because it appeared grim.

She ended up living and teaching for 14 more years.

Maybe she would have ended up living that long anyway. There's no way to know. But her quality of life far surpassed what it would have been had she been living in fear and dread and worry.

We have limited energy to expend in this body, in this life. It is finite.

What do you want to do with that energy? How do you want to direct it?

Our brains consume about 20% of our body's energy. When we are worrying, our brain uses up more energy, and less energy can be allocated to keeping us healthy. And when we are worrying, less energy can be directed to creating the world we want to create.

What if you used that same power, belief, and emotion that's rising in your system right now to energize the Life Force that lives within you?

To energize the flame of medicine that wants to be ignited in you?

There are so many nuances to this, and it's a practice. Because there's a fine line between stuffing feelings and spiritually bypassing, and simply not letting yourself energetically feed what you don't want to BE.

Again, I will always make a case for letting our emotions be experienced and witnessed lovingly (watch my IG video for more about this), and to acknowledge the stories we're telling ourselves about our biggest fears. Otherwise, they'll get repressed to the realm of the shadow, operate subversively, or control us from the unconscious mind.

And once we get familiar with the landscape of both the world and ourselves, we can, from our seat of inner authority, be guided by the Force of Life rising within us.

That Flame of Life is sacred.

And you get to decide how that flame is tended and where you shine its light.

WORK WITH ME

"I love everything about Amy! Her calm presence, beautiful studio, and her beautiful offerings. I’ve just finished 3 series of Reconnection Sessions, and now I see the world in such different ways than 4 weeks ago before I met her. She really helped me to connect with myself within, and by doing so, I am more confident and feel really comfortable in my own skin. I’ve never had such clear imagery during any guided meditation/shamanic journey. One of the things about her work is, it lasts a long time, not just a “feel good on the massage table” kind of thing, and the experiences with her change you and your world. Thank you Amy for the wonderful wonderful healing sessions!"
