True Healing Requires 2 Things
A common misconception about the healing arts is that the practitioner is “doing” or “administering” the healing process onto someone.
But the longer I’m in this field (now over 15 years in private practice serving both body and spirit), the more I know that my role is simply to help create the space and the environment for the healing to occur.
That’s not to say that I’m not doing anything. Creating an environment where healing can occur is a delicate and skilled practice. And there is a wide range of techniques I employ.
But. If a person’s body or energy is not ready to shift, if it is not open to change, is hesitant or unwilling… then they won’t change.
Sure there can be relief for a time, but ultimately, the underlying factors causing the imbalance or dis-ease in the first place will simply pick right back up again.
We can’t force change.
In fact, forcing energy to shift, or forcing the body to be different in some way, creates much more constriction, protection, fear, shame, and blockage in the system.
This is called the forcing current.
This forcing, controlling, or aggressive energy, when directed at something you want to change, is only met by the equal and opposite force of resistance. (We see this ALL over the world right now on any given topic.)
Change happens when it’s ready. Healing happens when it’s ready.
The healing journey has its own wise pace and timing.
Healing happens when conditions are right. And when space is held for the body, the emotion, the trauma, etc. to be seen, loved, and accepted exactly as they are.
When we soften the need for something to change, we allow a spaciousness in that can surround whatever it is we’ve been fighting against. We allow space for it to be.
When we do this with presence and love, energy is able to become liberated, move more freely, and inevitably re-shape itself.
In truth, healing is all about two things:
1) deep listening
2) repairing relationship in spaces once distraught by separation
It’s all about opening space for the consciousness that runs through our body and energy to be heard and seen, and then ultimately reconnected into the ecosystem around it.
Because once we understand how to deeply listen, and once we know how to reweave relationship, healing is inevitable.
And when we heal with this relational mindset, our own healing is not just for ourselves, but for the entire Earth family.
